Jobs in French-speaking Switzerland: the 5 most used job platforms in 2026

A candidate checks a job app on his smartphone in front of his laptop.

Where to look for a job in French-speaking Switzerland in 2026? Job offers are concentrated on a few large generalist portals, on the official platform of the regional employment offices, on a professional network, and increasingly on mobile apps. Each job platform has its own logic: some gather the most ads, others mainly serve executives, others candidates who want to receive proposals without applying.

This ranking is limited to generalist platforms where employers post directly, all occupations and all profiles. It relies on public, dated data: the Similarweb ranking of the jobs category in Switzerland for September 2026, the app store charts recorded in October 2026, and each platform’s official pages. Licorn is in it, in its real place as a newcomer. For each platform, you will find who it serves, what it does well, and when to use it in your job search.

How this ranking is built

There is no official audience statistic for job sites in Switzerland. We therefore cross-checked three public sources, each time stating the date of the reading:

  • The web: Similarweb. The ranking of the “Jobs and Employment” category for Switzerland (September 2026 data) orders sites by estimated traffic. We use the ranks, not the visit volumes, whose estimate is too uncertain to publish.
  • Apps: the stores. The top free apps of the Business category of the Swiss App Store, the same chart on Google Play Switzerland, and the search results for “emploi” on both stores, recorded in October 2026, the Google Play chart on Friday 17 October. These charts move every day.
  • The platforms themselves. Owner, model, published figures. When a figure comes from the platform, we say so.

Scope: generalist platforms where employers post their positions, open to all occupations. Not ranked here: job ad search engines such as Jobagent, Jooble or Google’s jobs feature, which point to other sites’ ads, nor staffing agencies, temporary work platforms and sector-specific sites. Sites absent from Similarweb’s jobs category, such as LinkedIn, ranked among social networks, are placed according to the stores and their own data.

The 5 most used job platforms in Switzerland

In the order of the web ranking, then of the stores for mostly mobile platforms:
01

JobCloud: jobs.ch, jobup.ch and JobScout24, the parent company of the Swiss portals

JobCloud, a Ringier and TX Group company created in 2013 by the merger of jobs.ch and Jobup, runs the country’s three leading private portals. jobs.ch is number 1 of the jobs category in Switzerland on Similarweb in September 2026, jobup.ch fifth and JobScout24 sixth. jobup.ch is, according to JobCloud, “the best-known portal” in French-speaking Switzerland; it is also the first result for “emploi suisse” on Google Play. The group claims nine out of ten people in Switzerland know its portals. The three sites largely share their ads: checking one is often enough.

02

Job-Room and arbeit.swiss: the official platform of the employment offices

Second and third sites of the category, Job-Room and the arbeit.swiss portal are run by SECO for the public employment service. This is where positions subject to the job vacancy notification requirement are published first, five days ahead of other channels, for candidates registered with the employment office. Free, ad-free, and essential if you are registered as unemployed.

03

Indeed: the global search engine

Fourth in the Swiss ranking, fourth free Business app of the Swiss App Store and sixth in the Business chart of Google Play Switzerland in October 2026. A subsidiary of the Japanese group Recruit Holdings, present in more than 60 countries, Indeed describes itself as the world’s leading job site by visits. It combines ads posted directly by employers and ads taken from elsewhere, hence a huge volume, but also duplicates and ads to verify.

04

LinkedIn: the network, mainly for executives

Ranked by Similarweb among social networks, not in the jobs category, but second free Business app of the Swiss App Store and twelfth in the Business chart of Google Play. Owned by Microsoft, more than one billion members worldwide according to its own data. Essential for executive positions, international profiles and network applications; much less so for manual trades, retail or healthcare.

05

Licorn: the new approach, the recruiter comes to you

Launched on 19 August 2026, the Licorn app works the other way round from portals: the candidate creates a profile with their conditions, salary, location, workload, remote work, and recruiters send proposals. In October 2026, it has more than 10,000 downloads on Google Play, a rating of 4.6 out of 5 on Google Play and 4.7 out of 5 on the Swiss App Store. In the top free apps of the Business category on Google Play Switzerland, it was, on Friday 17 October 2026, 3rd among all apps and the first job app, ahead of Indeed and LinkedIn. On the App Store, it is 67th among free Business apps. On the web, Licorn is far from the historic portals: it is a mobile platform, and a recent one.

Outside this top 5: job ad search engines and temporary work platforms, which remain the right channels for temp work.

Which job platform for your search

They do not all serve at the same moment. An effective job search combines two or three, not five:
01

You are registered with the employment office

Job-Room first: positions subject to the notification requirement are reserved for registered job seekers for five days, and your counsellor can assign you offers there. Add jobup.ch for the rest of the market.

02

You are actively looking for a job in French-speaking Switzerland

jobup.ch as a base, Indeed to widen, a keyword alert on a job ad search engine such as Jobagent or Jooble, and a profile on Licorn to receive proposals in parallel. Check each ad on the employer’s site before applying: duplicates and expired ads are frequent on aggregators.

03

You are aiming for an executive or international position

LinkedIn, with a complete profile and contacts in the target companies. Some of these positions are never published on portals.

04

You want temp work or short assignments

This is not the generalists’ ground: go through staffing agencies and flexible work platforms, which also post some of their assignments on the portals above. On Licorn, state in your conditions the type of contract you accept: recruiters offering temp work will see you too.

05

You are employed and open to proposals

This is the case portals handle worst: applying takes time and exposes your move. A profile with your conditions on Licorn lets recruiters come to you, without applying. Our job market barometer shows what candidates ask for.

06

You are looking in a specific canton

The jobs pages by canton, Geneva, Vaud, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, Valais, Jura, summarise the local market and the occupations that are hiring. On Licorn, the location is part of your conditions: recruiters see it before proposing a position.

In all cases, look at which occupations lack candidates: our top 10 most in-demand jobs in French-speaking Switzerland tells you where demand is strongest.

The pitfalls of job platforms, and how to avoid them

The bigger a platform, the more it also attracts poor-quality ads. A few reflexes:
01

Duplicates and expired ads

The same position appears on jobs.ch, jobup.ch, JobScout24, Indeed and on job ad search engines. Apply once, at the source, and note where and when you did.

02

Ads without an identified employer

An ad published by an agency without naming the company is normal in temp work. For a permanent position, ask for the employer’s name before sending a full file.

03

Offers that ask you to pay

No serious platform charges the candidate to apply, nor asks for a payment, a copy of an identity document or bank details before a signed contract.

04

Your personal data

A CV left in open access on a portal is visible to all subscribed recruiters, including, sometimes, your current employer. Prefer platforms where your profile’s visibility can be adjusted, and delete your files once the search is over. Our guide to prohibited interview questions recalls what an employer may collect.

05

Alerts that drown you

A broad alert generates dozens of emails a day and ends up ignored. One alert per occupation and per canton, read every morning, is better.

Time spent sorting ads is time lost preparing applications. That is also what motivated Licorn’s reverse approach.

The Licorn method: your conditions first, recruiters second

Licorn does not replace portals for someone who wants to apply today. It serves the other half of the job search:
01

A profile with your conditions

Salary, location, workload, remote work, type of contract: you set them once. Recruiters see them before contacting you.

02

Proposals, not applications

Recruiters see the profiles that match their position and send a proposal with the position’s conditions. You accept or decline. No cover letter for a position that does not suit you.

03

A recent app, transparent about its place

Two months after launch, Licorn is a mobile platform with more than 10,000 downloads on Google Play, far behind the historic portals in web audience, first job app of the Business chart on Google Play Switzerland in October 2026, 3rd among all apps on 17 October, and ahead of all of them on one point: the candidate sets their conditions before any contact. The Licorn home page explains how to create your profile.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about job platforms in Switzerland

In short

In 2026, the generalist job platform market in Switzerland comes down to five players: JobCloud and its three portals jobs.ch, jobup.ch and JobScout24, the official Job-Room platform, the Indeed engine, the LinkedIn network, and the newcomer Licorn, first job app of the Business chart on Google Play Switzerland in October 2026. Licorn does not yet compete with the historic portals in web audience: it changes the direction of the process, letting the candidate set their conditions and recruiters come to them.

The right reflex is not to sign up everywhere, but to choose two or three channels suited to your situation, and to really follow them.
